Version 5.2.3 (16 October 2026):

Version 5 files support only Wi-Fi controllers. All Wi-Fi controller users are encouraged to use this file.

Minor changes:

Period for which timer can continue displaying 0:00 after countdown has expired increased from 10 to 20 seconds. The timer can also be paused while displaying 0:00.

Cosmetic changes to display of half-page mode and lift history.

Version 5.2.2 (7 September 2026):

Added simulation mode.

Minor tweaks to program logic.

Version 5.2.1 (16 August 2026):

The maximum number of .png files that can be selected for a custom light shape has been increased from three to four. They can have any or all of the names: custom1.png, custom2.png, custom3.png and custom4.png. (The file name custom.png is no longer recognised. If you have a configuration that uses a file with that name, you will have to rename it to one of the four allowable names.)

An issue where some custom files caused a thin line to surround the square area of each light has been fixed.

Version 5.2.0 (5 July 2026):

Controller versions commencing from 32.2.0, will not work with HTML files earlier than this one.

The lights display screen can be toggled between 'normal' presentation mode (occupying the full screen width) or confined to just the right half of the screen. This allows the user to overlay another app window on the left half of the screen - for example, to display a spreadsheet showing competition progress results, etc., while simultaneously displaying the lights on the right half. The PageUp key on the PC keyboard is used to toggle between these two display modes.

Support for version 32.2.0 and later controllers*, which have an option for showing when a Jury overturns the referees' decision on the previous lift.

Minor bug fixes.

Version 5.0.0 (27 May 2026):

On-screen start-up messages are more detailed and now include:

  • The domain name that referees need to use to access the keypad on their smartphones. (Newer controllers use a different domain name from earier versions.)

  • The IP address to use in place of the domain name, for some phones that are slow or unable to resolve the domain name.

Users of controller versions 31.0.0* or later, can choose to display a dark-grey spot to identify each 'claimed' ref position.

Commencing from version 32.1.0 controllers, the keyboard layout selected by a referee (i.e. IPF or Other) automatically sets the matching display mode on the PC presenting the lights.

Simulation mode has been removed.

* [On request, I can provide instructions for users of earlier Wi-Fi controller versions to update to version 31.0.0. A Windows 10 or 11 PC/laptop will be required.]

Version 4.5.1 (17 May 2026):

This is the last release that can be used with either cabled, 433MHz wireless or Wi-Fi controllers. Later releases only support Wi-Fi controllers.

Support extended to Wi-Fi controllers with firmware version 32.1.0.

Minor changes including:

  • Next attempt submission countdown clocks continue to operate when configuration pages are displayed, but are temporarily hidden.

  • Tweaked horizontal alignment of the next attempt submission countdown clocks.

  • Reduced delay in displaying warning message when attempting to run the file on a mobile device.

  • Cleaner restart when a controller is temporarily disconnected then reconnected.

  • Tidied up the HTML and Javascript code.

Version 4.5.0 (9 January 2026):

Support added for ESP32-based Wi-Fi controllers shipped in April 2026 (firmware versions 32.0.2).

Changes to the way the Clear button functions on the Centre referee's box or keypad. (This is the black-coloured button):

  • WITH THE OPTION SET TO ALLOW THE BUTTON TO START A LIFT CLOCK, if there are not spots, lights or lift clock showing, pressing the button will start a 1-minute lift clock. (As prior to v4.5.0)

  • REGARDLESS OF THE BUTTON'S OPTION SETTING, the button's priority is to clear the lights, or any green spots that are showing. If ONLY the lift clock is showing, it will now CLEAR the clock. However, if any green spots AND the lift clock are showing, pressing the button once clears the green spots, and pressing it a second time clears the lift clock.

This gives the Centre referee more control over the lift clock. Prior to version 4.5.0, while they could start a 1-minute clock, they couldn't clear it.

Only the 'Delete' key on the computer running the HTML file can be used to clear the lights or spots. The 'Backspace' and 'End' keys no longer perform any function.

Session break times can now be set up to 60 minutes. The maximum lift time set via the keyboard is still 5 minutes.

Bug fixes: When the session break timer is running, pressing referee buttons are now unable to interrupt the timer. When the lights are showing, only the Centre referee's clear button is enabled (to clear the lights). Other buttons are now unable to interrupt the lights display.

Minor bug fix: If the Ref Lights screen loses focus (for example another window, pop-up, etc. appears over the Ref Lights screen), when focus is returned to Ref Lights, clocks now get updated promptly to show the correct times. Previously, when focus was lost for a lengthy period, the session break clock (for example) could take several seconds to catch up.

Version 4.4.3 (28 March 2025):

Minor cosmetic change: Lift time clock dims when paused, rather than turning grey. The only observable difference from earlier versions occurs if the timer is paused after it's turned orange at the pre-configured warning time, it turns a dim orange rather than grey.

Version 4.4.2 (3 December 2024):

Bug fix: Pressing a ref button while history is displayed would cause the timer to malfunction. Any ref button pressed while history is displayed will now be ignored.

Version 4.4.1 (30 October 2024):

Support for up to three different custom light shapes:

For example, you can choose a different one for each of the three power lifts! The custom files should have names chosen from: custom1.png, custom2.png and custom3.png. (For compatibility with earlier versions, you can still use the file name custom.png, but if both custom.png and custom1.png files are present, the custom.png file won't be recognised.)

The Configuration Selection and Favourite Configuration pages show thumbnails of the current light shape and the available banner(s).

Cosmetic changes and a minor bug fix.

Versions 4.3.x (Feb - Dec 2023):

Added three-level firmware version numbers and support for Wi-Fi Ref Lights controller. Lights and banners fade-in/fade-out. Improved Chrome cast compatibility. Blocked use on mobile devices. Increased margins on lights display to reduce cropping with monitors that over-scan. Minor cosmetic changes.
