Cholesterol Profile Conversion
The units commonly used to express blood serum concentrations of lipids differ
from one country to another.
While the US generally use milligrams/decilitre, other countries, including New Zealand,
use millimoles/litre.
The conversion factors are:
For total, HDL and LDL cholesterols: 1 mmol/litre = 38.6698 mg/dL
For triglycerides: 1 mmol/litre = 88.5740 mg/dL
The ratio of total cholesterol to HDL is independent of the units.
